The Bishop's School is an English Medium School. We follow three language pattern, which is imposed by the Government throughout India. The medium of instruction is English, Hindi being a compulsory 2nd language.

Marathi being the state language, is a compulsory 3rd language upto class VIII. Children of central Government Officers may exempted from Marathi, but have to opt for Sanskrit instead, till Class VIII.

French as a 2nd and 3rd language is taught only to students who hold a foreign passport. Such children are exempted from Hindi and Marathi, provided in their previous school they were studying French as their 2nd and 3rd language. Exemption will only be granted by the Council of I.C.S.E, New Delhi. The school does not have the authority to grant this exemption.

For this approval of French, a letter has to be addressed to the Council, through the school, accompanied with a copy of the passport and the previous school's performance record, showing French as a subject.

ANY ERROR IN OUR EARLIER NOTIFICATION IS DEEPLY REGRETED.

A Copy of the resolution of the Government of Maharashtra follows (Click here for Resolution ). If your child is eligible for exemption, please apply for the same, through the Principal.

To:
The Inspector Of Anglo-Indian School,
Maharashtra State
Topiwala School Bldg.
Topiwala Lane, Grant Road,
Mumbai.

Note:
In your own interest you are advised to make your case as strong as possible, quoting the section (s ) under which you claim Exemption; being casual or brief will not help your case.

Your child will be required to study Marathi until the exemption letter is received from the Inspector.
